Richard Goldstein is a Senior Tax Principal and Co-Leader of Berdon LLP’s State and Local Tax Group with more than 25 years of professional experience. He advises Fortune 500 and middle market businesses as well as high net worth individuals. Richard works with clients on state and local tax matters primarily involving corporate income and franchise tax, sales and use tax, personal income tax, unincorporated business tax, commercial rent tax, hotel occupancy tax, and real estate transfer tax.

Richard applies his extensive knowledge and technical expertise to provide the following services:

  • Consulting on income and franchise tax and sales and use tax nexus issues
  • Consulting on business income tax allocation and apportionment issues
  • Representing clients in SALT audits, appeals, and voluntary disclosures
  • Evaluating transactions to minimize the SALT impact
  • Providing SALT domicile/resident status planning
  • Identifying SALT refund opportunities and coordinating the filing of claims
  • Consulting on independent contractor and employee tax classification issues

  • Income tax apportionment and allocation, and non-grantor trust multistate taxation

Richard holds a Juris Doctor degree from Fordham University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Cornell University.
