NEW YORK — John D. Agogliati III, CFA, ASA, a principal in the Berdon LLP Litigation, Valuation and Dispute Resolution Group and co-chair of Valuation Services, has earned the Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) designation from the American Society of Appraisers.
To achieve this accreditation, Mr. Agogliati had to meet the demanding educational requirements of the American Society of Appraisers' designation program, including successfully passing four curricula exams and compiling 10,000 hours of actual business valuation experience. Mr. Agogliati also had to submit a report for peer review approval to two members of the ASA International Board of Examiners and had to pass the examination for the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) – the standards promulgated by the congressionally-authorized Appraisal Foundation. ASA is the only business valuation designation to require compliance with USPAP and there are fewer than 1,500 actively credentialed ASA business valuation members in the United States.
Mr. Agogliati also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) credential of the CFA Institute. He has performed valuations of hundreds of closely held companies, financial instruments, derivatives and complex assets for litigation, transaction, estate tax, gift tax, and financial reporting purposes for over 15 years. His valuation experience also encompasses the full range of commercial and intellectual property damages. Mr. Agogliati has performed damages analyses, and in many cases provided expert testimony, for matters such as breach of contract, product liability, business interruption, legal malpractice, and accountant malpractice, among others.
Mr. Agogliati earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering at Lehigh University’s P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree in finance from Lehigh University’s College of Business and Economics.
