NEW YORK - Four professionals at top-35 accounting and advisory firm Berdon LLP have been named principals as of January 1, 2016. The new principals include:

Michael Garcia brings together the expertise of the forensic accountant and auditor, the experience of a dispute consultant, and the perspective of an attorney to analyze and quantify economic damages and investigate occupational fraud and abuse in connection with commercial litigation, partnership disputes, and internal fraud investigations. Mr. Garcia has Big Four and regional accounting firm experience. A resident of Seaford, Long Island, Mr. Garcia is a graduate of the University of Delaware and the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
Thea Kruger, a tax attorney, provides tax planning and compliance services to high net worth individuals and business owners in the real estate and hospitality industries, including property owners, developers, and private equity funds. Thea has both Big Four and regional accounting firm experience. A resident of Greenwich, CT, Ms. Kruger is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Boston University School of Law, and New York University School of Law.
Jon Scalzitti is an auditor with more than 10 years of experience providing accounting, auditing, and tax services to both commercial and residential real estate owners, operators, investors, developers, and REITs. A graduate of Pace University, he resides in Carmel, NY.
Smit Shah, a member of the Firm for more than 10 years, provides accounting, audit, and tax services to prominent hotels and restaurants throughout the area. A graduate of Gujarat University in India, Mr. Shah is a Chartered Accountant as well as a CPA. He is a resident of Edison, NJ.
