Fund Administration Manager

A Client of Berdon LLP, has a role for a Fund Administration Manager. Reporting to the fund administration partner, you will be responsible for the oversight and review of all of the activities related to fund accounting and investor reporting including assisting in business development.

Overall Responsibilities

  • Maintain books and records of various private equity real estate funds
  • Review and assist with monthly, quarterly and annual reporting
  • Assist and oversee preparation of annual financial statements including footnote disclosures
  • Review of work papers, schedules and various reconciliations
  • Liase with outside auditors
  • Review and oversee preparation of partnership tax returns
  • Supports the production of financial reports for partners, shareholders, director and management reports, in an accurate and timely manner
  • Assist in set-up and maintenance of internal controls to ensure overall accuracy
  • Supports the review and validation of fund Net Asset Values as needed
  • Management of the working relationships with all client contacts, including investment professionals, other client personnel, investors, auditors, bankers, etc
  • Supervision of staff accountant and bookkeeper assigned to the client team
  • Allocation of P&L to individual investors including management fees and incentive allocations in accordance with fund documents
  • Ensure compliance with investment fund legal documents, i.e. partnership agreements, management agreements, and loan documents.
  • Review of underlying portfolio financial data as supplied by property managers and provide assistance to staff to convert tax basis, cash basis, etc. to GAAP or IFRS accrual basis.
  • Preparation and distribution of various client related correspondence
  • Participate with client sales, attend new client meetings, and assist with compilation of fee proposal
  • Coordinate new client on boarding.  Coordinate client/fund setup internally by working with external parties
  • Assist with designing, advising and implementation related to workflow processes Special client projects
  • Assist in business development activities

Job Requirements

  • Candidates with a mix or public accounting and fund administration experience are preferred.
  • B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • CPA required
  • Financial reporting experience required.
  • Partnership tax experience required
  • Specific experience in the real estate industry is a plus. 
  • Candidates should have strong computer skills, particularly MS Office products, especially MS Excel. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong oral communication skills.
  • Prior experience with business development

Bookkeeper-Midtown

A client of Berdon LLP is looking for a bookkeeper for their midtown office. To qualify for this role, your knowledge must encompass payroll, general ledger, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and basic work-paper preparation.

Minimum Education & Other Requirements

  • 3-5 years in bookkeeping experience
  • Entertainment industry experience preferred
  • Strong computer proficiency including QuickBooks and Excel
  • College a plus

Controller - Hospitality Industry

Berdon LLP is looking for a Controller for their hospitality (Social club) client, located in midtown Manhattan.

The Controller will oversee all aspects of the company's financial and accounting functions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing, recording, and processing all accounts payable
  • Completing monthly accounting and distribution of expenses
  • Reconciling balance sheets, bank accounts, equity contributions, and cash
  • Updating and preparing monthly, daily, and weekly cash
  • Processing payroll and other related payroll tasks
  • Paying and recording all benefits premiums and various benefit related duties 
  • Tracking, recording, and collecting accounts receivables from third parties
  • Additional responsibilities will include financial reporting, budgeting, projections, ales tax filings, accounts payable, accounts receivable and inventory control.

To qualify for this position:

  • Jonas Club software knowledge preferred
  • Prior experience in a hospitality firm is a plus
  • Controller will work directly with the Director and Treasurer
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (CPA is preferred).
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of related experience

Senior Accountant Real Estate

A client of Berdon LLP is looking for a senior accountant for their New York City based real estate firm.

We are seeking a positive individual with exceptional detail and organizational skills who is able to communicate well both verbally and in writing. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare timely financial reports including monthly income statement, balance sheet and cash flow.
  • Maintain trial balance with appropriate journal entries.
  • Prepare annual budgets and provide ongoing comparisons of actual results to forecasts and historical results.
  • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable. 

Qualifications

  • 3-5 year’s accounting experience.
  • Experience at a real estate company.
  • Full knowledge of general ledger.
  • Knowledge of Timberline software will be helpful.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including creating spreadsheets and editing formulas.
  • Excellent overall computer skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
